Outlook 365 app password not working
If you have two-step verification turned on and an app isn't prompting you to enter a security code when you sign in, you may be able to sign in with an app password instead. An app password is a long, randomly generated password that you provide only once instead of your regular password when signing in to an app or device that doesn't support two-step verification.
You only need to create an app password if you have two-step verification turned on and are using an app that doesn't support it. To create a new app password for an app or device, take the following steps. You can repeat these steps to create an app password for as many apps or devices as you need. A new app password is generated and appears on your screen.

Enter this app password where you would enter your normal Microsoft account password in the application. Once you have created and entered an app password for a given app or device, you usually won't need to do it again. Some apps or devices require a slightly different method of signing in. We have not had any repeats on users whose Outlook prompted again since they redid their AP on Monday. BUT we are still having a trickle of tickets where people's outlook starts prompting them, and now when a user goes to setup an AP the option is gone.
We contacted MS and they seemed clueless. We are currently awaiting a call back from a Tier II rep. I tried turning off and on the option under MFA service settings to allow end users to create AP's and no change. Delete the user's existing AP's and no change. I was able to use the "Require selected users to provide contact methods again," which did generate a new AP, but again the user was not able to see the "Additional Security Verification" page.
We noticed that Admins were still able to see and generate their own AP's and we determined that the "User management administrator" role would allow users to set and see their AP's. I'm curious if anyone else in a similar configuration has seen this issue or is currently experiencing it?
We were just notified by MS that they have changed how users can get their app passwords. End users can now also delete their existing AP's again. MS says those with the "User management administrator" role will be able to use the old way that I listed originally, and that this method may change in the future. This transition likely explains all the original AP's failing on Monday. To continue this discussion, please ask a new question.

Update: I tried logging onto Outlook on a different machine earlier today and had the same problem our new users were having. Please try again. If the problem continues, contact your email adminstrator.
I disabled MFA for my account and was immediately able to login to Outlook without trouble. My app passwords were all deleted, but nothing seemed to be affected. I re-enabled MFA for my account shortly thereafter. About an hour or two ago. Just now the Windows Security window popped up, prompting me for my Outlook password. I was ready for this and created a new app password. This did not satisfy Outlook, nor did my personal password, or multiple attempts to re-enter the app password.
I just shut down Outlook and restarted it, and it seems to be content, although the status on the bottom-right is "Online with: Microsoft Exchange" as opposed to the usual "All folders are up to date. Change password in Outlook Web App
In a web browser, sign in to Outlook Web App using the URL provided by the person who manages email for your organization. Enter your user name and password, and then select Sign in. If your admin has turned on multi-factor authentication for your organization, and you're using apps that connect to your Office account, you'll need to generate an app password so the app can connect to Office For example, if you're using Outlook or earlier with Officeyou'll need to create an app password.
Check whether your Office admin has turned on multi-factor authentication for your account. If they haven't, when you try to do these steps you won't see the options in Office Sign in to Office with your work or school account with your password like you normally do. After you choose Sign inyou'll see this page:. Select your authentication method and then follow the prompts on the page. Or, watch the video to learn more.
After you verify your alternate contact method, choose Next. You'll get an app password that you can use with Outlook, Apple Mail, etc. Choose the copy icon to copy the password to your clipboard. You won't need to memorize this password. Sign in to Office and go to the My Account page.
You'll only see this option if your admin has set up multi-factor authentication for your organization.
